Nestled in between Victoria station and the shopper’s paradise of the King’s Road sits Dominique Ansel Bakery, the London branch of the eponymous New York favourite.
With New Years Eve and all of its associated resolutions and health kicks fast approaching, my boyfriend and I, still in a Turkey-induced-Christmas-food-high, headed along to continue the festive over indulgence.
Dominique Ansel is home to several cult classics so, naturally, I simply had to order them all! Starting with the famous cookie shot. This is absolutely the sort of shot that I can get behind – a delightfully chewy chocolate chip cookie cup, lined with chocolate and filled to the brim with vanilla flavoured milk, taking a classic combination to new levels!
You can’t go to Dominique Ansel bakery without sampling their trademarked Cronut. Whilst other bakeries offer their own versions of this delicious treat, Dominique Ansel is its true home. When we visited on a crisp December day, the option available to us was roasted plum jam and creamy egg nog ganache. A wonderfully festive offering, that was packed full of filling! With a range of flavours that change each month, I can’t think of a better excuse to become a serial visitor!
As if we didn’t have enough sweet treats, we also picked up a blossoming hot chocolate. Here, a marshmallow flower melts into a pool of one of London’s best hot chocolates. This creates a drink that has the delicious decadence of molten dark chocolate topped off with the sticky sweetness of the marshmallow layer.
So, put the January diet on hold and grab a cronut!
Love, Sophia x
